Our Active Labour Market programme manages a number of Community Employment (CE) schemes, which are designed to help people who are long-term unemployed (or otherwise disadvantaged) to get back to work by offering part-time and temporary placements in jobs based within local communities.
Over the years, we have supported many colleagues with achieving third level education, completing their masters courses and setting up their own businesses while many have attained the skills and competencies required to enter or return to the labour market.
Many of our CE scheme participants deliver our Meals on Wheels service, Day Centre activities and provide administrational support staff for many of our services through our information and services hub. We also provide administration staff for a number of groups in the greater Tallaght area working to meet the needs of the community in a wide variety of activities.
If you are a participant in a CE scheme, you can take up other part-time work during your placement. After the placement, you are encouraged to look for permanent jobs elsewhere, based on the experience and new skills you have gained while on the scheme. The Department of Social Protection (DSP) provides a variety of allowances and funding to assist with the CE Scheme.
Trustus Senior Care is one of the many voluntary organisations or public bodies that act as community employment sponsors and who manage CE schemes at a local level.
