Job Title: Care Worker / Bus Escort (Day Care)
Reports to: Clinical Nurse Manager, Day Centre (the Manager)
Contract Type: Part time position, 22 ½ hrs per week
Purpose
Our Day Centre is a place where seniors can meet up and engage in activities that provide social interaction. Our team of professional carers aim to create a warm, welcoming and safe environment that caters to the psychological, physical and social needs of our clients. The purpose of this role is to support the provision of a comfortable, safe and stimulating environment for our members and to recognise and respect their dignity at all times.
Main Duties – Care Assistant
- Support continuous improvement of required standards of service delivery. To maintain confidentiality at all times.
- To report any changes noticed in client’s behaviour to the Manager, which may reflect health or emotional difficulties and special dietary needs.
- To assist clients with toileting, when required, in a discreet and sensitive manner.
- To help clients with eating / drinking if required.
- To prepare light lunches / refreshments and to keep the kitchen clean and tidy, in line with Food Hygiene regulations.
- To encourage clients to talk and participate in discussions and to take an active role in Day Centre activities, entertainment and outings.
- To ensure that daily records sheets are maintained in respect of members’ attendance, contributions, entertainment and menus.
- To provide cover for colleagues on a flexible basis during holiday and sickness periods.
- To assist with the Day Centre related administrative duties, as required.
Main Duties – Bus Escort
- To act as an escort to our members on journeys to and from their homes to our Day Centre and during outings, as required.
- Supervise our members whilst on company vehicles.
- Ensure the comfort and welfare of our members throughout their journey with equipment securely stowed and seatbelts fastened.
- Report any vehicle defects, faults, incidents and accidents to the Driver / Manager.
- Help ensure that company vehicles are clean before and after use.
- Maintain company image by keeping working attire in a clean and tidy condition.
- Working within health and safety guidelines and other guidelines that may be issued from time-to-time.
- Maintain register of members using our transport service.
- Become familiar with all routes to and from our Day Centre in order to be of assistance to our driver.

Essential Requirements
- QQI Level 5 Care Skills and Care of the Elderly and a commitment to completing the full
- QQI Level 5 Healthcare Award within 12 months of commencing employment.
- Previous experience of working in a Day Care / Residential Setting / Home Care.
- Fluent English.
- Be able to work five days per week, Mon-Fri.
